A conference is much more than just the formal proceedings. Of course it is an excellent opportunity to connect up with colleagues and friends from previous conferences, meet new acquaintances, swap ideas and gain inspiration from others. For this conference we especially welcome those who are outside the normal cycling campaigners.

Therefore we will be providing the normal range of associated cultural events to the conference.

Friday Night

These will include a Friday night session in the Lord Rodney pub. Your hosts will be providing a complimentary cold buffet on your arrival.

Saturday Night

We have booked the Toledo Tapas bar in Warrington where we can get a good meal at a reasonable price. It is just around the corner from the conference venue. The entry in the Northwest restaurant guide "Onion Ring" says it all :-

"Authentic Spanish Tapas and varied A La Carte menu. Located in the centre of Warrington, not a glamorous location but good food and atmosphere."

and another recommendation :-

"Toledo's is a little Spanish oasis! You will forget the typically Northern location as soon as you enter the huge wooden doors to a cheerful Mediterranean welcome. The Taverna style interior is so very Spanish and you will want your evening to go on and on ... and sometimes it just does! The tapas is a delight and the main menu is first class! You will find an incredible selection of wines and ice cold Cruz Campo on tap. The atmosphere is exceptionally comfortable and relaxed and, if Ricardo is feeling that unstoppable Mediterranean energy, you can also expect a real spontaneous salsa experience! Toledo's is a pleasure to return to time and again."

We thought it a bit heavy on the "Northern" comment but we have used it in the past and thoroughly enjoyed our evening.

Sunday Morning

We have a cycle ride and will be going out into the Cheshire Countryside before ending up at Warrington's own Cycle Museum at Walton Hall.

A meal at a local pub will then be optional.

Warrington Cycle Campaign has over 200 members and is committed to making better use of the roads for all sectors of the community. Our main objectives are:-
  • A safer environment by the adoption of a 20mph speed limit in all urban areas

  • On-road cycle training for all children

  • Better account taken for the needs of cyclists at road junctions and roundabouts

  • Responsible cycling - using lights at night and respecting pedestrians

Take a look at their website to view topical issues, etc

20's Plenty For Us provides a wide range of resources, information and material for local 20's Plenty campaigners. These include many mixed groups where cyclists and pedestrians are working together for lower speed limits where people live.
